I assume he said it since Resende was wearing a pink shirt and of course pink = girly/gay, either of which is bad, right? Give me a break.

I'd like to see him justify that line of thought to any survivor of breast cancer or to Chad Berger, who started the cowboys in pink thing in memory of a friend who passed away due to breast cancer. Or, you know, anyone who realizes that a color is just a color.

You would think it wouldn't be that hard for the "laconic cowboy" type to keep his mouth shut, but it seems like maybe some of these guys need a refresher. A very long one.Pearl de Verehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00710636662894485591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4866947503973668447.post-38714467957192022252013-07-14T14:10:49.468-07:002013-07-14T14:10:49.468-07:00I'd like to see Chase Outlaw call Mesa Pate, P...I'd like to see Chase Outlaw call Mesa Pate, Paige Stout, Mary Walker, Venus & Serena Williams, Olympic swimmer Dara Torres, a couple of million hard-working women in every field, and every single female parent in this country a "weak-hearted girl." Most of us would punch him in the mouth.

But then, this is the guy who asked Emilio Resende, "Do you like pussy?" (complete with hand gesture illustration)-- see Men's Journal article, May 2013. If the PBR let THAT one by, they clearly aren't grooming their riders for prime time, and don't give a rat's ass about alienating women. They obviously think of us as sub-human.

Any editor worth a salary would've deleted that reference. Any REAL man wouldn't have said it in the first place, no matter how emotional he was. REAL men respect women. That's one are where these guys need to "cowboy up."
Kris Dhttp://bullridingmarketing.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4866947503973668447.post-8272871934113544342013-06-26T11:47:47.088-07:002013-06-26T11:47:47.088-07:00I wish I could say that I was amazed by this state...I wish I could say that I was amazed by this statement or that the PBR decided to publish it, but the PBR continually demonstrates that its PR is unsophisticated at best.Shawkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03702605335177150318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4866947503973668447.post-41021047382529988012013-06-21T11:37:36.365-07:002013-06-21T11:37:36.365-07:00Damned straight, Ms. Pearl. And since we appear to be through with holding our tongues on this blog, I just have to state for the record that despite all the commentary to the contrary, I have not seen anything that passes for good writing under Keith Ryan Cartwright's byline. I have worded that statement very deliberately because what we don't know, and almost certainly can't know, is how much other people screw around with his work before it gets posted. Nevertheless, I haven't seen anything that resembled an adroit turn of phrase, and as you observe here, I frequently want to poke my eyes out at the head-turning gaffes in his work. As it happens, I put in several years as a trade journalist myself, so I am not unfamiliar with what Connie Chung once described as the "sleazy marriage" between publishers and advertisers or organizations and sponsors--and certainly anybody who has been married to Maury Povich since 1984 knows what one of those looks like. So I actually have a little sympathy for Cartwright's situation, but I have less respect all the time for his journalistic judgment. In fact, even using the word "journalism" in connection with what we see on the PBR website is a jaw-dropping stretch.Stockyard Queenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03036587088523124787noreply@blogger.com
